My name is Chioma Stella Iheagwam, and I am 26 years old, living in Uyo. Before GAMAID Foundation came into my life, I was going through a season of serious financial struggle and hunger that almost shook everything I knew about myself. I would wake up every morning with the same heavy questions running through my mind. Where will the next meal come from? How will this small money cover rent, food and other basic things? The uncertainty was just too much, and it left me anxious and unsure about what tomorrow would even look like.
I first heard about GAMAID Foundation through my church, and the testimonies of people whose lives had been turned around really stirred something in me. When I finally reached out, I met a team that was not just ready to help me with my immediate needs, but truly wanted to walk with me as I rebuilt my dignity and my faith. Their response was quick and complete. From 2021 till today, they have stood by me with steady financial support, including loans they offered with so much grace (and even forgave when I could not pay back), rent payments for the family house I live in, and a dependable housekeeping job that gives me a stable income every month.
Beyond the money, GAMAID Foundation made sure I never had to sleep on an empty stomach. Generous feeding grants would arrive at the exact moments I needed them most, covering countless meals with no expectation of being paid back. On top of all that, they opened up a warm home for me, a family house where I could rest, read my books and grow in a safe environment. For three years, that home gave me real peace, with no fear of eviction or sudden rent increases hanging over my head.
The impact of all this on my life has been deep. The hunger pangs and the fear of unpaid bills became things of the past, and in their place came real food on my table, security and the joy of doing honest work. Having a stable home helped me focus on growing as a person, in body, in spirit and in mind, while the loans and the job they gave me made it possible to take on responsibilities and actually plan ahead. This family of believers reminded me that I am not forgotten, and that God often answers our prayers through the hands of kind people and organisations.
To the team, the sponsors and the volunteers of GAMAID Foundation, I am truly grateful for all the love and care you have poured into my life. Your support did not just meet my physical needs, it renewed my faith and filled me with hope at my lowest moments. Thank you for being vessels of God’s grace and for lighting a path of change that has marked me forever. May the Lord continue to bless your work, strengthen your hands and multiply your impact in many more lives.
