Who we are

What we collect, and why

• When you give online: your name (optional), email, amount, currency, frequency and designation, plus a transaction reference from our payment provider. We use these to process the gift and send a receipt. We never see or store card numbers — they go directly to the payment provider.
• When you tell us about a bank transfer: the name on the transfer, email, amount, date and bank reference, to match the transfer and send a receipt.
• When you volunteer, partner, offer goods or contact us: what you type into the form. We use it to reply and, if you volunteer, to match you to a programme.
• When you use the website assistant: the questions you type are sent through OpenRouter to the AI model that writes the answers (Anthropic’s Claude unless we say otherwise). We do not save these conversations. If you ask to talk to a person, we store the name, email, optional phone number and message you give us, together with the conversation, to reply to you.
• Analytics: we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are, the device and browser, and how people move through a page (clicks and scrolling, with what you type into forms masked). Both set cookies. We use this to improve the site, not to identify you, and we do not sell it. You can block these cookies in your browser and the site will still work.

Lawful basis

Consent, which you give by ticking the box on each form (it is never pre-ticked), and our legitimate interest in receipting gifts and replying to messages.

Who sees it

GAMAID staff who need it to reply, our payment provider (for online gifts), our email provider (to send receipts and replies), Google and Microsoft (for the analytics described above), OpenRouter and the AI provider it passes them to (to answer questions typed into the website assistant), and nobody else. We do not sell or share donor data.

How long we keep it

Donation records for seven years, for accounting. Form submissions for two years, then deleted. Volunteer records for the length of your volunteering plus one year.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent, by emailing hello@gamaidfoundation.org. We reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Stories and photographs

People in our stories and photographs have given written consent, recorded in our system. Anyone can withdraw that consent at any time and the content is removed.
