Giving
How can I give money?
Online from the Give page, in naira by card, bank transfer or USSD, or in dollars or pounds by card, as a one-off or monthly gift. Or by direct bank transfer to the account on the bank transfer page. You can choose which programme your gift supports, or leave it to where it is needed most.
What non-cash items can I give?
Work tools and equipment for carpentry, farming and tailoring; gadgets such as laptops and projectors; vehicles; clothes and shoes; educational and agricultural resources; food in bulk for the kitchen. Tell us what you have and we will say honestly whether we can use it.
Can I include GAMAID in my will?
Yes. A gift in your will, or a charitable trust, can fund a programme for years. The gifts-in-wills page has suggested wording for your solicitor, and we are glad to talk it through in confidence.
How do receipts work?
Every online gift is receipted automatically by email within minutes, quoting a reference beginning GAM-. Bank transfers are receipted once we match them: send us your transfer reference from the bank transfer page and the receipt follows within a few working days. If a receipt has not arrived, email us with the amount and date and a person will reply.
Can I choose which programme my gift goes to?
Yes. Every gift can be designated to any of our programmes, or marked “where most needed”. Designated gifts are spent only on that programme. If a programme is fully funded or closes, we contact you before redirecting your gift.
Can I give from the United States or elsewhere abroad?
Yes. GAMAID Foundation is registered in the United States as GAMAID, and US donors can give through PayPal, Zelle or GoFundMe. From anywhere else, the give panel accepts US dollars and pounds sterling by card, one-off or monthly, and sends a receipt in the same way.
Getting help
Is help conditional on faith?
No. GAMAID is a Christian charity and the work is done out of that conviction, but nobody is asked what they believe before they are fed, housed, treated, taught or represented, and nobody is asked to attend anything to keep receiving help. The spiritual programme is there for those who want it.
How do I get help, or refer someone?
Contact the office by WhatsApp, phone, email or in person and say what is needed. You do not need a form or a referral letter. Each programme page explains who it is for and what to expect once you get in touch.
Volunteering and partnering
Can I volunteer, and what would I do?
Yes. Cooking and serving in the kitchen, teaching and tutoring, driving, trade instruction, filming and design, hospital and prison visits (after checks and orientation), mentoring, and office and planning work. Professionals in medicine, law and grant-writing can help remotely.
How can my church, business or organisation partner with GAMAID?
In one of three ways: fund a programme for a year, host a drive for food, clothing or tools, or take our trainees on placement. Partners receive a plain quarterly update, an open invitation to visit, and recognition where they want it.
About GAMAID
What does GAMAID stand for?
Generous Aid Mission for Assistance, Impact and Development. GAMAID Foundation is a registered not-for-profit in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, working for the whole person: body, mind and spirit.
What is GAMAID’s mission?
To help each person feel valued and treated with kindness, and to give them the tools to build a better life. We provide for basic needs first, then support, stand up for people’s rights, and help them grow in ways that last.
What makes GAMAID different?
We work in an order. Food, clothing, shelter and health come first, because nothing else is possible until those needs are met. Then education, a trade and mentorship, so that the need does not come back. And through all of it, a community to belong to. We do not just feed people and move on; we stay in touch.
Where does GAMAID work?
From 15 Ikpa Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, where the kitchen, showroom and office are. The houses, farm camp and school outreaches are in and around Uyo, with outreaches reaching Eket, Abak, Ikot Ekpene and further afield through partner churches.
Is GAMAID a registered charity?
GAMAID Foundation is a registered non-profit in Nigeria, run from Uyo, and is registered in the United States as GAMAID, which receives US gifts through PayPal, Zelle and GoFundMe. Registration numbers are published on the impact page as they are confirmed.
Safety and verification
How do I check that a message is really from GAMAID?
Check it against the verify page, which lists every official channel: our website, email, phone and WhatsApp number, bank account and social handles. GAMAID never asks for money by direct message, and never through an individual’s personal account. If a request does not match that page, do not pay, and tell us.
How do you keep the people you serve safe?
No adult is ever alone with a child in a GAMAID programme. Staff and volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults provide references and an identity check first. Stories and photographs are published only with written, recorded consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. Concerns can be raised anonymously.
