What we do

Our programmesfor body, mindand spirit.

Praeparatio Corporis, Mentis, et Spiritus: preparation of body, mind and spirit. We meet the immediate need first, then help with what keeps a person independent, and walk alongside them throughout.

8 programmes in 3 stages

Three GAMAID volunteers in navy and gold confer over notes at an event
A GAMAID volunteer checks a man’s blood pressure at a community outreach as others wait
A GAMAID team leader briefs volunteers gathered outdoors before an outreach

First · Corporis

Body

Nobody can learn a trade or rebuild a life while hungry, unclothed, unwell or without a bed. That is why we begin here.

Who it is forPeople in immediate need in Uyo and the surrounding communities — and anyone who refers them.

Then · Mentis

Mind

Once the immediate need is met, the work is to help prevent that need from returning. This means education, a trade, legal standing and someone to walk alongside.

Who it is forYoung people and adults who want to learn, train and work, and anyone who needs a mentor alongside them.

Throughout · Spiritus

Spirit

As we care for the body and mind, we also care for the spirit through prayer, encouragement, fellowship and a listening ear. Everyone is welcome, and help is never conditional on faith.

Who it is forEveryone we serve, and anyone who wants prayer, teaching or a Bible of their own.

Need help, or know someone who does?

No form,no letter.

Contact the office and tell us what is needed. If it is something we do, we will explain the next step. If it is not, we will point you to someone who can help. Help is never conditional on faith, church attendance or anything else.

Support the workwhere it is needed most.

A gift marked “where most needed” goes to whichever programme is short of funds this month.
