My name is Blessing Godwin, I am 24 years old, and I live in Uyo. Before GAMAID Foundation found me, I was stuck in a cycle of hunger, financial hardship and unstable housing. My parents truly did their best, but with the little they had, I would often skip meals and spend sleepless nights worrying about where I would lay my head. Every morning, I would drag myself to class, knowing fully well that once the lecture halls emptied out, I had no real guarantee of food or rent money.

Then in 2020, GAMAID Foundation reached out, and everything changed. They gave me a safe, permanent place to stay, covered my basic living expenses, and provided regular food support so that I no longer had to wonder where my next meal would come from. They also enrolled me in a job support programme, where I picked up real skills and got paid work that allowed me to take care of myself. Beyond all the practical help, the counsellors at GAMAID Foundation would regularly sit with me, listen to my fears and encourage me to keep pressing on, no matter what.

Over these past five years, through exams, holidays and personal setbacks, the holistic support I have received from them, valued at roughly ₦1.5 million, has truly set me free from desperation. I was finally able to focus on my studies without that gnawing anxiety of hunger or homelessness eating at me. I secured stable employment, learnt how to stand on my own two feet, and managed to avoid the dangerous paths I genuinely feared I might end up on.

I honestly cannot fully put into words how grateful I am to the team, the sponsors and the volunteers of GAMAID Foundation. Their kindness restored my dignity, brought back my hope, and reminded me that I am not alone. May God bless them richly, grant them ever increasing grace and provision, and continue to use them to lift even more lives, just the way they lifted mine.
