My name is Victory Brown, I am 23 years old, and I am from Uyo in Akwa Ibom State. Before GAMAID Foundation came into my life, my family and I were stuck in serious financial hardship. I had no place of my own, so I was squatting with a friend, and on many nights I had no choice but to sleep in empty classrooms on campus. Every morning came with the same heavy worry, just trying to find something to eat was a daily battle, and school fees felt completely out of reach. The weight of it all almost crushed my dreams. I was right on the edge of dropping out, wondering how I could possibly keep going under all that pressure.
Then help started to come, like cool water finally reaching dry ground. GAMAID Foundation stepped in and truly became my lifeline. First, they gave me stable accommodation, a safe place I could call home for over a year and a half, free from that nightly worry of where I would lay my head. They covered my school fees for two full semesters in 2024, and that alone lifted a massive load off my shoulders. For more than two months, they gave me steady food support that filled my stomach and let me actually concentrate in class instead of just trying to survive. In early 2025, when medical bills nearly knocked me down again, they showed up once more with over ₦20,000 in medical support so I could see a doctor and get proper treatment without fear. And beyond all these practical gifts, GAMAID Foundation gave me business counselling and motivational coaching, the kind of guidance and encouragement that lit a real entrepreneurial spark in me.
That spark grew into a flame when I started baking and selling scone bread. What began as a small, hopeful trial under the mentorship of GAMAID Foundation’s volunteers has now grown into my main source of income. Every loaf I sell is not just money in my pocket, it is proof of what belief and real support can do in a person’s life. Their investment in me did not just settle my immediate needs, it gave me the tools and the confidence to start building something of my own.
Today, I can truly say I am standing on my own two feet. I am still in school, and my education has not been derailed by the threat of homelessness or hunger. I now cover my own personal expenses, which has eased the pressure on my family, and I am even able to support them when they need a hand. The change in my life has been deep, going from nights of uncertainty in empty classrooms to the steady rhythm of running my own small business and standing tall on my own.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you, GAMAID Foundation. Your kindness came at the exact moment I needed it most, and you turned my despair into hope and my potential into something real. Because of your generosity, I am thriving, and now I can lift others up the same way you lifted me. May God richly bless and reward everyone who made this possible. Thank you for truly being vessels of love and impact.
