A Fresh Start: Ibim Jaja’s Story of Refrigerated Relief

I am Ibim Jaja, a 30-year-old resident of Uyo, and before GAMAID Foundation stepped in, I was weighed down by persistent financial hardship. Living in a community where the nearest market lies in a neighboring local government meant I had to buy all my groceries in one trip and find a way to keep them fresh until the next market day. Without a refrigerator, I relied on reheating food over and over—an expensive and time-consuming process that drained both my time and my resources.

My introduction to GAMAID came through my church family, and from our very first conversation, I felt their genuine concern for my well-being. In early 2025, they made good on their promise of support by providing me with a brand-new fridge—an act of kindness valued at over ₦300,000. Suddenly, I could stock my kitchen with fresh produce and cooked meals without the constant fear of spoilage.

The impact of that single gift has been nothing short of transformative. No longer do I face the added burden of transport costs for repeated market trips, nor must I spend hard-earned naira on gas to reheat my food daily. With reliable refrigeration at my fingertips, my meals stay nutritious and safe, and I have been able to redirect both time and money toward other essential needs. My family, too, has benefited from this stability: leftovers that once went to waste now feed us for days, and the savings on fuel and market fares have lightened our household budget.

From the depths of my heart, I thank GAMAID Foundation for this tangible expression of care. At first, I admitted skepticism—I had heard of foundations that promised much and delivered little—but you have truly surprised me with your integrity and generosity. Thank you for standing by me in my season of need, for restoring dignity to my home, and for empowering me to thrive rather than merely survive. Your kindness has ushered in a fresh start for me and my loved ones, and I will always be grateful.
