I’m God’sfavour Udoumoh, an adult living in Uyo, and before GAMAID Foundation found me I was struggling under a heavy weight of financial hardship and a glaring lack of proper clothing. As a medical student writing professional exams, I lived in the campus hostel where meals were scarce and my old wardrobe made me feel out of place among my peers. I first heard about GAMAID at my church, when they invited us to an outreach seminar; I never imagined that would lead to the lifeline I so desperately needed.
Starting in 2020, GAMAID provided me with regular feeding support throughout the three weeks of each exam season, sending funds that ensured I never missed a nutritious meal during those critical days. Those meals sustained not only my body but my focus and confidence in the exam hall. At the same time, their Mercy team surprised me with a steady stream of new clothes—gowns, blouses, trousers, and shirts—so that I could present myself with dignity and professionalism, rather than feeling ashamed or self-conscious in worn-out outfits.
Over these five years, their combined material and monetary assistance—about ₦30,000 in exam-feeding stipends and countless garments—brought immense relief to my parents, who watched their financial burdens lift whenever they saw me well-fed and well-dressed. More than that, GAMAID’s kindness restored my self-respect and allowed me to concentrate fully on my studies, free from the constant worry of where my next meal or decent outfit would come from. Their generosity has been a source of comfort, strength, and provision during some of the most challenging seasons of my life, and I remain profoundly grateful to every team member, sponsor, and volunteer whose love and compassion continue to transform my world. I look forward to growing this relationship with GAMAID and seeing how many more lives we can uplift together.
