I am Theresamary Edowaye, and in 2019 I stood at a crossroads during my final year at the University of Uyo. With every passing semester, my financial challenges deepened—particularly when it came to feeding myself on campus. Lectures resumed, assignments piled up, and yet I found myself shrinking at the thought of paying for even the simplest meals. The constant hunger weighed heavily on me, threatening both my health and my ability to concentrate on my studies.
That difficult season shifted the moment GAMAID Foundation intervened with timely feeding grants. Between 2019 and 2021, I received multiple ₦3,000–₦5,000 stipends exactly when I needed them, ensuring that I could afford three square meals without compromising my academic focus. In 2021, as I prepared for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, GAMAID went a step further: they provided me with free accommodation for several months. Having a stable place to live removed the anxiety of where I would sleep and allowed me to devote myself wholly to NYSC registration and camp preparations.
Upon returning from NYSC in 2022, GAMAID again opened their doors—granting me continued rent-free housing that has spanned years, sparing me the burden of monthly rent and maintenance costs. They also extended a one-time loan of ₦20,000 to help cover my NYSC registration fees and initial camp expenses. Knowing that my room was taken care of gave me the freedom to focus on building my future, rather than scrambling for basic shelter.
GAMAID’s support rippled outward to bless my family as well. When my parents struggled to finalize our own rent payment, the Foundation stepped in with ₦200,000—enabling us to settle into our home and regain a sense of security. Beyond housing and direct financial aid, I have benefited from discounted healthcare services and job placements with partner organizations—Amazing Christian Girls Housekeeping, Bethel Farms, and Bethlehem Kitchen—and participated in skill-acquisition programs that continue to empower me professionally.
Today, I stand on firm ground: my studies and NYSC service were completed without interruption, my family’s rent is paid, and my health and career prospects are far more secure. GAMAID’s comprehensive care has brought stability where there was uncertainty and hope where there was struggle. I am deeply grateful for their steadfast commitment and compassion. To GAMAID Foundation and everyone who has invested in my journey—thank you. Your kindness has made all the difference in my life.
