From Stranded to Supported: A Story of Radical Hospitality

When I arrived in Akwa Ibom, I stood completely alone—stranded without shelter, connections, or hope. The only thread to this unfamiliar land was a cousin I’d never formally met. With nowhere to turn and no safety net, desperation threatened to swallow me whole.

Then GAMAID Foundation became my miracle. When offered housing, I was overwhelmed with gratitude: months of rent-free sanctuary in a home filled with kind, supportive souls. These weren’t just housemates—they became my teachers and growth partners, nurturing relationships that reshaped my perspective.

Simultaneously, GAMAID transformed my professional wilderness. They secured me multiple jobs paying beyond my wildest dreams—once earning in four days what others make in a month. This financial breakthrough “blew my mind” and empowered extraordinary generosity: with abundant food provisions (delicious meals I could never afford), I shared surplus with others. Beyond material support, they clothed me, guided me spiritually, and wrapped me in a community that truly cared.

This intervention rewrote my destiny. Without it, survival might have forced harmful compromises. Today, I’ve gained more than stability—I’ve found a second family. I feel protected. Seen. Safe.

Thank you, GAMAID—I’m literally wearing your kindness (this gifted outfit!). Thank you for the meals that nourished body and soul, for turning despair into smiles, for being God’s hands when I was falling. We love you fiercely. May He strengthen you to keep writing these redemption stories for others still waiting in the dark.
