My name is Ndosire Iditere Danjuma. Before I knew of GAMAID Foundation, things were really hard for me. I did not have a steady place to stay, and money was a big problem. I had no stable place to stay, and I kept worrying that I might end up somewhere unsafe. I thought of how I would even manage the small things I needed to get through the day. My family were trying their best, but they were under pressure as they tried to stretch every naira to sort out whatever was most urgent.

I heard about GAMAID through my church family. I was introduced to the people at the foundation. From the very first day I met them, they were so warm and kind. It did not feel forced or like they were just doing a job.

In 2024, they gave me a safe place to stay and made sure I always had food, and when I think about everything they spent on me, it ran into hundreds of thousands of naira. But it was not just about the shelter and the food. They also sat me down for counselling, which really helped me deal with a lot of issues I had been holding inside. They also linked me up with job opportunities that made me start feeling like myself again. They helped me get training opportunities, and now, I am proud to say that I now have a skill (painting) which has enabled me to earn money and start becoming independent.

Honestly, the change in my life has been amazing. Having a proper place to sleep at night gave me a kind of peace I had never really felt before. I started getting my energy back, and for the first time in a while I could actually think about my future and how to rebuild my life. Eating regularly made such a big difference too, both for my body and for my mind, and that constant feeling of being hungry just slowly went away. The counselling taught me how to handle hard moments better, and the job support gave me skills I can actually use to take care of myself.

It has helped my family a lot as well. They are not the only ones carrying the weight of my needs anymore, and I can see that they are finally able to relax a little. I am even able to chip in at home in small ways now, and I try to use the things I learned through GAMAID to help other people whenever I get the chance.

To everyone at GAMAID, the team, the sponsors and all the volunteers, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I pray for you all the time. May God bless you richly for your kindness, and may this work keep growing so that many more people like me can be lifted up the way I was.
