My name is Ephraim Joe Davies. I am a 22-year-old student living in Itu L.G.A. Before GAMAID Foundation stepped in, my family was honestly in crisis. My mother fell seriously ill and needed urgent hospital admission, and we couldn’t afford the cost of her treatment. On top of that, I was also dealing with the heavy challenge of securing a proper accommodation for my final year at university so that I could
study better.

I first heard about GAMAID Foundation through my church family when a kind sister noticed what I was going through and connected me with their volunteers.

The support from the GAMAID Foundation came quickly and in very real, tangible ways. They provided ₦26,000 for my mother’s medical care, covering hospital bills we could not have paid ourselves.

Next, they provided a secure safe, rent-free accommodation in one of their shelters. They further supported me by providing a housecleaning job, which allowed me to earn extra income and pick up practical skills. Each of these interventions came at the right moment, weaving together a real safety net of financial provision, shelter and dignified work.

The impact on our lives has truly been deep. My mother received the treatment she needed and regained her health, all without heavy medical debt. Having reliable accommodation lifted such a massive load off my shoulders, allowing me to settle into my final year with peace of mind and focus fully on my coursework.
