My name is Salvation Emmanuel. I am currently a medical doctor, but I want to talk about how GAMAID Foundation has helped me over the years.

By the time I got to my fourth year in medical school, things at home had become really tight. School fees, feeding, books, transport, everything was just adding up, and my family was feeling the pressure. I was managing to pay my fees through some relatives, but beyond that, there was nothing to fall back on. No spare money for emergencies, no extra for textbooks, nothing for exam preparation. It was a very delicate season for me, and that was when GAMAID Foundation came into the picture and honestly changed the direction of my life.

I first heard about GAMAID through my church, God’s Lighthouse here in Uyo. People were already talking about how much they had helped others, so I had a little bit of hope, but I never expected the level of support I ended up receiving.

More than once, they gave me interest free loans to take care of my upkeep and school needs. And the way they did it, you would not even feel like you were collecting a loan. There was no pressure, no harsh words, just encouragement. Then one day, they did something I am still grateful for till this moment. They gave me a fee waiver of almost ₦200,000, money I did not have to pay back. That singular gesture lifted a heavy load off my shoulders, and for the first time in a long while, I could face my studies with a clear mind.

Even after I graduated, GAMAID did not just walk away. As I was trying to find my feet and start working, they kept supporting me. In 2024 alone, the support I received from them was close to half a million naira, and they also connected me to paying job opportunities. Through their skill acquisition programmes, I discovered I had a hand for multimedia design and writing, and these skills have now become extra sources of income for me, as well as something I genuinely enjoy doing.

When I look at the whole journey, I just have to give God the glory. I finished medical school without that constant fear of dropping out because of money. My family got some breathing space, and the stress that was building up at home began to ease. I came out of school not just with a degree, but with the confidence of knowing that there were people standing behind me. And the part I value the most, I never had to compromise my values or my faith just to stay afloat financially. That, for me, is priceless.

To everyone at GAMAID Foundation, thank you. Your investment in my education, my skills and even my character has shaped the doctor and the person I am today. If anyone is looking for a place where their giving will truly count, I can confidently point them to GAMAID. May God keep blessing the ministry, and may your reach continue to grow, touching many more lives the way you have touched mine.
