Testimony 1
My name is Affiong Udofia, and my journey with GAMAID Foundation started not long after I gave my life to Christ in my first year at university. Every time I went home for the holidays, I would find myself slipping spiritually. Old friends and old habits would creep right back in, and I just did not have a strong enough footing yet to hold my ground in my walk with God. It became clear pretty quickly that it would be wiser for me to stay back in Uyo during the breaks, but the question was, where would I live, and how would I sort out rent and bills when my parents were all the way in Owerri?
That was when help came shining through like light in a dark room. GAMAID Foundation started providing me with accommodation during the school holidays, and that one gesture truly changed everything for me. Living with fellow believers during those breaks became one of the biggest reasons my faith grew the way it did. In that communal setting, accountability took root, my daily routine started to have proper structure, and deep, real fellowship began to bloom. We studied the Bible together, we prayed together, and we genuinely watched over one another’s spiritual journey, always encouraging each other to keep standing firm in Christ.
Staying back in Uyo also opened doors I never even imagined. I was able to find holiday work that took some of the financial pressure off my parents and gave me a real sense of dignity and purpose. On top of that, I got involved in Bible classes, first as a learner and then, with time, as a teacher, taking part actively in evangelism and discipleship. What started as a simple necessity slowly became a natural part of who I am. Plenty of people genuinely assumed my biological parents lived in Uyo because I had found such a real family here. From staying in a sister’s rented apartment to moving into family houses and even serving as a house head, every new season marked another chapter of personal and spiritual growth.
Today, I can say with full confidence that Uyo is my home, and not because of birth or blood, but because of the spiritual family that surrounds me. I have known the blessing of shared devotion, I have been cared for when I was unwell, I have learnt how to cook hearty meals for large groups, and I have been provided for even when I had absolutely nothing left. My parents have often been amazed at how well I have done. I vividly remember my dad telling me he was never afraid I would compromise my values for money, because he trusted that I was being kept safe in loving hands.
The story did not end with just me. When my sister gave her life to Christ, she too was welcomed into GAMAID Foundation’s support system. Today, both of us are standing firm in the Lord, free from the things that once threatened to pull us away. Even when I travel out of town, I always know exactly where to call home in Uyo, right at the heart of my spiritual family. For all of this and so much more, I am deeply grateful. Thank you, GAMAID Foundation, for giving me a safe place to hide, a community to grow in, and the freedom to truly become who I am today.

Testimony 2
Hmmm, I honestly do not even know where to start from. After I gained admission into the university, life became really, really hard almost straight away. I could go through a whole semester, like three to four months, on just ₦5,000 from my parents. That was honestly all they could manage to send me, and that small money was supposed to stretch across school sundries, food and every other personal expense.
My first and second years were filled with tears and sleepless nights. Even though I had just given my life to Christ and made up my mind to fully obey God, refusing to compromise my values by following men for money, this question kept haunting me, how exactly was I going to survive without any meaningful support from home?
Then, as if heaven itself had sent the answer, help came through a sister from church who volunteered with GAMAID Foundation and happened to be my roommate in the hostel. She kindly included me in her feeding allowance, made sure I never skipped a meal, and even slipped me small weekly stipends to cover little expenses here and there. Before long, GAMAID Foundation itself stepped in directly. They sent me transport money so I could return to campus after every break, and when I had to move back into the hostel from a family house, they blessed me with both a feeding allowance and money for essential school items.
There was a time my phone screen cracked badly and ink started spreading across the display, until the phone was almost unusable. Through my pastor, GAMAID Foundation sent me the money I needed for a new device. Today, I am literally typing this testimony on that very same phone, a constant reminder of their love and care.
Maybe the most critical moment of all came when my mother fell seriously ill and was hospitalised. We had no money at all, and the fear of amputation was hanging over us. I found myself completely alone in that hospital ward, until GAMAID Foundation sent a cash gift that covered her medical bills. That one act of kindness turned the entire situation around, and today my mother walks without any difficulty at all. Her recovery is a living testimony of God’s mercy.
Over the years, I have received so many gifts, cash, accommodation, regular meals, the list goes on. I cannot even begin to calculate the thousands of naira that have been poured into my life. And the most touching part is that none of these came from relatives. They came from people who did not even know me at all. That kind of selfless love is genuinely rare in this world.
“Thank you” honestly does not feel like enough to capture how grateful I am. My prayer is that God blesses GAMAID Foundation and every single vessel they have used to bring hope and provision into people’s lives. May the Lord keep multiplying your resources and sustaining this beautiful work of compassion, just as you have so faithfully sustained me.
