From Despair to Belonging
When I first arrived in Uyo, I stood at life’s bleakest crossroads—jobless, homeless, and consumed by hunger’s relentless ache. The crushing weight of uncertainty paralyzed me; I truly couldn’t envision how I’d survive another week in this unfamiliar city. Darkness had become my only companion.
Then, like dawn breaking through a storm, GAMAID Foundation entered my life. In my most desperate moments—when the gnawing emptiness of hunger threatened to break me—they nourished my body with warm meals. When I shivered under the terror of homelessness, they provided not just shelter, but a sanctuary filled with the most compassionate housemates anyone could pray for. And when decent work seemed an impossible dream, they opened doors to opportunities that became my lifeline: jobs that settled my debts, covered my daily needs, and restored my self-worth.
GAMAID reached me in those suffocating moments where hope had fully vanished—when I’d forgotten how to take the next step. Their steadfast presence whispered the truth I needed most: that I mattered profoundly, that I was never alone. Through their tangible love, they didn’t just give aid—they resurrected my belief in tomorrow.
In my hardest seasons, this ministry has been my unwavering trinity of rescue: comfort when I trembled, strength when I faltered, and provision when I had nothing. Their kindness wasn’t charity—it was love in motion, rewriting my story’s trajectory. Today, my gratitude runs deeper than words can hold. I don’t just thank them—I embrace our continued journey together, for in GAMAID, I’ve found family.
