My name is Charles David. Taking part in Farm Camp was a six week experience that honestly went far beyond anything I had imagined. It was not just a training programme. It was a deeply enriching journey, both educative and truly transformative. I joined from the very first day, and now, looking back, I can confidently say that those weeks shaped me in ways I never even anticipated.
Before stepping into camp, my life was completely buried under the weight of constant work. I was just running on autopilot, busy but somehow disconnected from everything. Entering the farm environment felt like crossing into a whole different world. I found myself surrounded by new faces, new rhythms and new responsibilities. Every single day came with fresh challenges, unfamiliar tasks, early mornings, group dynamics, all pushing me past my comfort zone. But strangely enough, it was exactly what I needed. That shift from noise to nature genuinely gave me room to breathe again.
One of the most unexpected and meaningful parts of the camp was learning how to truly connect, not just socially, but emotionally and spiritually too. I found myself bonding with people I had never met before, sharing laughter, labour and lessons together. But even more deeply, I found myself connecting with nature in a way I never had before. There was something profound about watching birds grow, from tiny vulnerable hatchlings to lively creatures fluttering all around their pens. And yet, there were difficult moments too, like when some birds did not make it. Those moments were tough, but they stirred something inside me. I started to feel compassion in a whole new way. I developed a quiet reverence for life, for its fragility, its wonder and its unpredictability.
But Farm Camp was never really just about poultry or planting. It was about life itself. It was about slowing down long enough to listen, to learn and to grow, both inwardly and outwardly. It taught me discipline through the daily routines, teamwork through the shared tasks, patience through the long hours, and perspective through the quiet moments of reflection.
More than anything, Farm Camp reminded me of the real beauty of intentional living. It pulled me away from my regular routine and helped me rediscover parts of myself that had been buried under the noise of constant busyness. I left the camp not only with practical knowledge, but with a refreshed spirit, clearer focus and renewed gratitude.
I am deeply thankful to have been part of such a powerful experience. And without any hesitation at all, I am already looking forward to doing it all over again.
